Rainy and Sleepy

Woke up at 9.45am but went back to sleep. Finally woke up at 10.15am to have Digestive Biscuits with milk for breakfast. Then, I showered and got dressed before driving to class. To my surprise, I was early.

At 12pm, class started. An hour later, we were allowed to go. Went over to DNL for lunch. Got myself some crappy Nasi Lemak with no cucumbers! And yet I paid full price. :(

Nasi Lemak - RM 2.00

After lunch, we went over to our next class and stayed there for another 90 minutes. By the time we left, it was raining HEAVILY! DY picked us up and dropped me at my car. Got a little wet because of that...

Got home at about 5pm and I watched an episode of DH. Later, I used the laptop till it was 6.15pm. Then, I took a nap. Woke up at 7.30pm and realized what I dreamed was not real. Was in a nice hotel. Damn!

Dragged my body downstairs and ate my dinner. Came back upstairs to write this post. Gonna end this post here and do some other stuff. Got to wake up at 7.15am tomorrow for the 9am class. Goodbye.

A Not-Doing-Anything Sunday

When I checked my watch, I was surprised to see "12.30pm"! I thought we were gonna have breakfast. Anyway, it was still nice to sleep in. Used the laptop for a while till it was time for lunch.

Dad then brought us to this place in Paramount named "Restaurant Gafan". This is a branch from the famous Taman Connaught outlet. Didn't really like it here though. Plus, we were the ONLY customers.

Fried Beancurd (12pieces) - RM 10.00

Mutton Rice (Small) - RM 7.00

Had their Mutton Rice which was okay. The rice was very dry though. Also, we had some fried beancurd that tasted really weird to me. When we were done, dad paid and we went home.

Back home, we had some ice cream. Then, I came upstairs to use my laptop. Chatted a while before watching 2 episodes of Desperate Housewives. Took a nap at about 5.30pm.

Later, I woke up and waited for my turn to shower. When all of us were done, dad drove us to dinner at The Olive, TTDI.

Then, we went to Eastin Hotel and bought 3 cupcakes as they were on sale. The cafe at Eastin sells their cakes at 50% off after 6pm everyday. So, we bought 2 Chocolate Chip Cupcakes and 1 Poppy Seed Cupcake.

Cupcakes in the box

Back home, we unboxed it I took some pictures. After tasting them, I realized that the Poppy Seed Cupcake wasn't that great but the Chocolate Chips in the Chocolate Chip Cupcakes were GOOD! Only thing I disliked was the weird tasting sugar coating on the top of all the cupcakes.

Anyway, I came upstairs and started writing this post. It's 11pm now and I still have one post to write. Goodnight...

The Olive, TTDI

We were driving around Taman Tun area and saw the green signboard of this cafe. "The Olive". Dad parked the car and we went down to check it out. First thing I noticed was the deco. The walls here were painted on in a childishly-cute manner.

Is this appropriate?? You guys tell me...

As we sat down, they gave us the menu. There was a fair range of food in the menu but there wasn't any dessert. :(

After 5 minutes, I decided to order Chicken Cream Soup, Bruchetta, Baked Beef Lasagna, and a Chocolate Milkshake.

My milkshake wasn't really chocolatey but I still liked the texture of it. Tasted mum's Iced Cappucino which was fine too. Also, the bruchetta turned out to be GREAT. Even better than Italiannese.

Chocolate Milkshake - RM 7.90

Iced Cappuccino - RM 7.90

My Chicken Cream Soup wasn't that great because it was from the can. According to the staff, only Mushroom Soup and Pumpkin Soup are made of freshly cut ingredients. Tasted E's Cream of Mushroom Soup and it was good. He wasn't lying.

Chicken Cream Soup - RM 6.90

Cream of Mushroom Soup - RM 6.90

Bruchetta - RM 6.90

Tasted some of M's Grilled Chicken Salad but that wasn't impressive. On the other hand, E's Spaghetti Carbonanra was quite good. Very rich and creamy.

Grilled Chicken Salad - RM 9.90

Spaghetti Carbonara - RM 16.90

Later, the Lasagna was served. This dish was tasty but a little too dry. To make it better, they should have melted the layers further to make them stick to each other. I could actually just peel the lasagna layer by layer. :S

Baked Beef Lasagna - RM 14.90

When I was done, I took a bite of mum's Lamb Chop. Was a bit too hard but it still tasted good. I also had a small piece of J's Fish. Didn't like it as it was too dry.

Lamb Chop with Mint Sauce - RM 29.90

Fish & Chips - RM 16.90

After dinner, I noticed the drawings on the wall and stared at it for a full 2 minutes. I was wondering if my eyes were failing me. That's all because I saw this...

Can you figure it out?

The bird house on the left, which is the real thing, is BLACK. And, the bird house on the left, a reflection of the real thing, is WHITE!!

When I told M, she immediately told me that it was the reflection of the light. Damn, I felt so dumb! xD

The waiters here are polite but they tend to be blur at times. Also, they use plastic coasters which defeat the purpose of coasters and creating an utter mess. They put my cold drink on top of it and after dinner, this is what happens...

Water all over the place.

One thing I liked about this place was the music. Throughout our dinner, they were playing popular songs from year 2004. Was singing along to "Say It Isn't So" and "Everytime".

In my opinion, the food here is just average. Only some of the dishes here are reasonably priced. Probably would not come here again in the near future.

Like this post? Please nang it. :D

Eat, Sleep, Eat

Woke up at about 10am today and used the laptop. Washed up and had some water. Waited till lunch time. Then, we went to A&W in PJ for lunch. Had a Mozza Burger Set and was so full after that.

Mozza Burger Set (large) - RM 10.80

Mum met her customer for an appointment so we went back with dad. Back home, I used the laptop again till around 4pm. Then, I took a nap. Woke up at 6.30pm and played eRO. Showered and waited for everyone before going to dinner at "Chef & Brew".

After dinner, we went over to Buddhist Maha Vihara, Brickfields. We were there to see the Thorana. Later, we went back home and I started uploading pictures and blogging.

It's 1am now and I still am not done. Anyway, goodnight...

Chef and Brew, Damansara Heights

So dad brought us to this place called "Chef & Brew" in Damansara Heights for dinner. The place was quite big and the decorations were pleasant. Even before we were seated, mum, J and I went over to the dessert bar and STARED!

Sat at our table and looked at the menu for about 5 minutes. There were many choices so we took quite some time to decide. I then ordered Garlic Toast, Mocha Crushed, and Grilled Chicken Fillet With Roast Sauce.

Menu

Before our food came, they gave us a slice of complimentary bread each. Though the bread wasn't great, the good quality butter compensated for it. Delicious!

Then, our drinks arrived. They wrapped the plastic cups with serviettes and cellophane-taped it together. That's rather environmentally UNfriendly. But, the drinks were GREAT! The ice were well crushed and my Mocha Crushed was very tasty! Mum's Hazelnut Mocha Blended was good too.

Mocha Crushed - RM 7.90

Hazelnut Mocha Blended - RM 8.90

Not long after that, my Garlic Toast arrived. I shared it with everyone and it was VERY VERY delicious. One of the main reasons is because they put a more than GENEROUS amount of Garlic Spread on the bread. This sinful snack is oily but Highly Recommended to my readers!

Garlic Toast - RM 1.40

Later, our main courses were served. Mine was good except the fact that they used celery in the Roast Sauce. Also, I didn't like their boiled vegetables. Tried mum's Baked Fillet of Fish and it was nice.

Grilled Chicken Fillet with Roast Sauce - RM 17.90

Baked Fillet of Fish - RM 23.90

Tried GM's Seafood Meehoon but I did not like it. The chips had gone soft and the noodles were too dry. Did not try the other dishes that my family ordered as I wanted to keep my stomach for dessert. Didn't hear any negative comments though.

Seafood Meehon (Indo Style) - RM 10.90

Cream of Mushroom - RM 6.90

Sizzling Grill Fish Steak - RM 24.90

Fish & Chips - RM 17.90

Wild Mushroom Chicken Fillet - RM 21.90

Spaghetti Chicken Bolognaise - RM 15.90

After dinner, we went back to the dessert bar and ordered 4 cakes. Chocolate Lava, Chocolate Cake Ala Mode, Italian Cheese Cake, and Chocolate Durian. All of them tasted just okay. Nothing much to shout about.

Chocolate Lava - RM 8.90

Chocolate Cake Ala Mode - RM 8.90

Italian Cheese Cake - RM 9.90

Chocolate Durian - RM 9.90

We now come to the end of my dining experience at Chef & Brew. There were three things I did not like here. Firstly, they piled all the DIRTY dishes less than 10 meters away from us. Why can't they put it in the kitchen?

Dirty Plates piled up for the customers to SEE!

Also, I did not like the lighting there. Some places were very dark which made taking good pictures almost impossible. M also noticed that they used the Chili Sauce from Victoria Station (which happens to be part of their company). But can't they afford their own? This just degrades their name.

Chili Sauce from Victoria Station

Ignoring that, the service here was EXCELLENT! 90% of the staff here are foreigners but they speak good English and are VERY WELL TRAINED. There are also less people here and they do not speak loudly. Which creates a very comfortable ambiance for PLEASANT dining.

Overall, it was a great dinner. So to those who are interested, they have set lunches during weekdays (RM 16.90). Click here for the address. :)
