Backofen, Desa Sri Hartamas

Drove around Desa Sri Hartamas before dad decided to bring us to Backofen. It was a bakery/cafe. None of us came here before so we didn't know what to expect. But, I liked the deco and was quite happy.

The waiteress gave us 2 menus (had many cellophane tape all over it) when they was 4 of us. Didn't mind that because this Filipino waitress was very friendly and polite. Good customer relations. Thumbs up!

Anyway, we placed our orders and waited for them to be served. Moments later, our drinks arrived. I didn't like J's Iced Cappuccino because there wasn't enough sugar. On the other hand, Mum's Iced Lemon Tea had TOO MUCH sugar. :S

Iced Cappuccino - RM 5.00

Iced Lemon Tea - RM 4.00

Next, my Chocolate Milkshake was served. When it arrived at my table, it was already overflowing. Generous!! The texture was nice and thick. Would have been better if they put more Chocolate flavoring inside. :)

Chocolate Milkshake - RM 5.00

Not long after that, the Mushroom Soup and Garlic Bread was served. Tasted the soup and it was PIPING HOT! Burned my tongue because of that. Didn't bother trying it anymore. The garlic bread was crunchy but there wasn't enough garlic. Chef and Brew's garlic bread is better.

Mushroom Soup - RM 4.00

Garlic Bread - RM 4.50

Next to be served was my Chicken Stroganoff. It comes with either spaghetti or rice. I chose spaghetti. It's texture was just like curry except that the Stroganoff isn't spicy at all. The portion was too big and filling. Didn't manage to finish this dish. :)

Chicken Stroganoff - RM 12.50

After that, Mum's Meatloaf was served. We get to choose if we want Chicken or Beef. Also, there is a choice of Roasted Potatoes or Potato Salad. Mum had Beef Meatloaf with Roasted Potatoes. Tried the meatloaf and it was tasty. Mum liked the Roasted Potatoes but I thought it lacked flavour.

Beef Meatloaf with Roasted Potatoes - RM 13.00

Dad ordered the Viennese Beef Goulash (tender beef cooked in spicy brown gravy) with bun. Tried the goulash and couldn't stand the weird taste of the beef. But, my dad said it was good. Well, everyone have their own opinions right?

Viennese Beef Goulash with Bun - RM 10.00

Finally, J's Hawaiian Pizza arrived. The toppings were good but I did not like the bread. I guess since this isn't the specialty, one should use the money and order something else.

Hawaiian Pizza (6 slices) - RM 14.00

After all this eating, we were BLOATED!! Out of the 4 main courses ordered, we had to pack 3 of them home! And yet, we still wanted to buy some DESSERTS for later! xD

We couldn't finish!

Since dad allowed, we went to the counter and picked 3 cakes and 2 eclairs. Gluttony! Dad paid the bill and we went back home.

The bill - RM 87.90

About an hour later, we took out the cakes and ate them. The chocolate eclair was okay. Oreo Cheesecake was soft and nice too. Totally different texture compared to the one in Secret Recipe.

Chocolate Eclairs - RM 1.20 (each)

Oreo Cheesecake - RM 4.50

Also, the Green Tea Cake was satisfying. Mum even said she wants it for her birthday. The Mango Cheesecake was good too. Though I'm not sure why they call it Mango "Cheese" Cake since there is MORE MANGO than cheese.

Green Tea Cake - RM 4.50

Mango Cheesecake - RM 4.50

I really enjoyed my lunch today. The portions are generous and prices are reasonable too. Definitely would go back there again. Maybe this time just for tea/cakes. Won't mind going for lunch too. :D

  9. I tried the meat loaf today as their set lunch, totally disappointing. It's so salty, feel like eating the Chinese luncheon meat.
